About Mrs. Lopez

Mrs. Veronica Lopez

Hello! My name is Veronica Zamora Lopez, NC Pre-k Teacher at Brogden Primary School. I was born in San Antonio, Texas, but grew up in the Grantham area and currently live in Dudley. I am the youngest of three sisters. I went to Grantham School (4-8) and then went to Southern Wayne High School. I graduated from SWHS on June 1997 as an honor graduate and NC Scholar.
In the spring of 1995, I met my husband Juan Lopez, outside our little church. We dated and on December of 1997 we got married.  We have 3 handsome boys, Juanito - 17, Miguel - 15, Gustavo - 7, and now Alexa (my first girl...yay) - 11 months. They are my pride, joy, and love each one with all my heart. We love to go to church, eat, sleep, dream and play basketball and some football. I love working with children, cooking and baking, spending time with my family and going to work everyday!
I have worked with young children since August of 2000. I started working as the Pre-k  Instructional Assistant at Spring Creek Elementary. I had the pleasure of working with a wonderful and pleasant administration, staff, students, and families for six years. During those six years, I was working full time, going to school, and working on my family.
I went to school at Wayne Community College for a few semesters and later transferred to Mt. Olive College. I graduated from Mt. Olive College December of 2005 with a Bachelors degree of Science in Early Childhood Education. After graduation, there were no pre-k teaching positions in WCPS so I returned to work as an IA. I later obtained my teaching license in Birth through Kindergarten from East Carolina University. July 24, 2016 I completed my Master's of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from Gardner-Webb University.
September of 2006, I went to work at Edgewood Community Developmental School in Goldsboro and Wayne Academy forming part of the Preschool Resource Team. There I had the opportunity to work with an awesome group of ladies and one gentleman; and touch the lives of, work with, and educate many young children with special needs and their families.
Summer 2011, I receive a phone call from EC director and uh-oh. She offered me a position at School Street School working with both typical developing children and children with special needs in a  pre-k classroom. I worked at SSE for 3 years
I have been here at BPS as NC Pre-k teacher since August 2014.  Here I am once again looking forward to a great and very productive year.
